Get out there and get active

A healthy breakfast is just one important ingredient to your child’s health. Staying active is another. There are lots of simple things you can do to keep your kids active that won’t break the bank and fit your hectic schedule.

  • Try a family walk after dinner or play a game of catch or tag in the backyard.
  • Sign the kids up for a few local community recreation programs that meet regularly.
  • Limit the amount of time the kids spend on the computer and watching TV — The Canadian Paediatric Society recommends no more than two hours a day.

Most importantly, pick things that fit the personality of your kids and your family. Because when you like what you’re doing, you’ll want to do it much more often.
